Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam Insert, 1969
Title
Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam Insert, 1969
Subject
Anti-Vietnam War Movement
Description
This unidentified underground press insert is related to the October 15, 1969, Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam, a massive nation-wide mobilization across the country that included demonstrations and teach-ins. This moratorium was followed a month later by a massive demonstration in Washington, D.C., which attracted an estimated 500,000 participants. The insert includes a section from Mark Twain’s anti-imperialist story, “The War Prayer.” Twain’s story scathingly critiques the often blind, religious fervor that justifies war.
